The book begins with a crisp and clear review of cyclic concepts, a subject for which Walt has long been recognized as a leading expert. The main message of the book, however, deals with using cyclic concepts of market behavior to enhance the performance of several popular oscillator techniques including RSI, Stochastics, MACD, and the Commodity Channel Index.
Oscillator analysis has become especially popular with futures traders. One of the major drawbacks, however, is the problem of filtering out the bad trading signals and to bring into play the concepts of trend. Bressert demonstrates how the incorporation of cycles analysis greatly enhances the accuracy and the value of oscillator signals. He also suggests a three-dimensional approach to trading which uses longer range analysis as an integral part of short-term trading decisions.
